The Third Bomb |
by William Arthur Barnhill & Keith Eric Blackwell |
1945 An atomic bomb is dropped on Tokyo Japan at the end of World War II. The bomb, intended to target the emperor's palace, strays off course but fails to detonate. It lands instead on the home of a young boy, OSHIRO ASAKAWA, killing his mother and his sister. The young boy is taken to the city of Hiroshima to live with his remaining family. While in route he witnesses, from a distance, the complete destruction of Hiroshima and its people. The young boy swears revenge on the Americans. The unexploded atomic bomb is never found by the US government. PRESENT DAY Children playing in the hills above Tokyo, Japan stumble into a hidden bunker complex where the vintage atomic bomb is being retro fitted for detonation. The children are murdered and end up floating in the Tokyo harbor. In Maryland at NSA headquarters black-ops Chief GENERAL BLANKENSHIP calls back from retirement his best, though troubled, field agent JAKE CASH. His mission: to hunt down what he is told is the core of a missing reactor. Cash reluctantly agrees to take the case and immediately leaves for Tokyo to start the search. At the American embassy Cash is united with an old friend GEORGE DONAVAN, his contact officer in Tokyo. Cash's investigation soon leads him to the door step of the now grown up boy, shipping magnet Oshiro Asakawa. Cash is tailed by YOSHI OSHIMANO, a female agent from the Japanese Secret Service. After some rankling they unofficially combine forces and together begin to unwind a plot implicating Asakawa and the bomb. Cash is summoned to Guam by Blankenship where a top secret brief from Harry Truman is opened revealing the truth about the missing bomb. Cash learns that an Al Queda cell along with a Pakistani scientist are being manipulated by Oshiro Asahawa to prepare the bomb for detonation in the United States. Cash, however, returns to Tokyo too late. Asakawa has left Japan with the bomb on board a special retro fitted ship the Toshi Maru. Cash, Yoshi and Donavan take a plane and find the ship but are shot down. They are forced to make an emergency landing on the deck of the Toshi Maru where Donavan is murdered by Asakawa's henchmen. Cash and Yoshi are imprisoned on the ship. With plane and ship missing, the president of the United States authorizes Blankenship with the help of the Navy and Air force, to find and destroy the ship at all cost before it can reach the US. |
Under the cover of a typhoon, Asakawa plays a cat and mouse game with the US Navy across the Pacific. After several close encounters Asakawa's true plan is revealed. Al Queda operatives will fly a suicide mission with a C-130 painted with US Coast Guard Insignias off the deck of the Toshi Maru and detonate the bomb over Los Angeles. Asakawa wanting to dispose of Cash and Yoshi puts them aboard the C-130. At the final moment before the bomb is exploded Cash frees himself and Yoshi. A fight ensues at the same time US jet fighters threaten to shoot them out of the sky. Cash and Yoshi gain control of the plane, kill the terrorists. Cash flies the plane back out to sea and drops it near the Toshi Maru killing Asakawa and his henchman. Cash and Yoshi barely escape the blast crashing the C-130 into the ocean where they are picked up by a US submarine. |
